Coupling Agent

A adhesion promoter (Coupling Agent) is used to improve the adhesion between polymer type of adhesive and sealant and the substrate. The coupling mechanism depends upon a stable chemical compound of the organofunctional groups on the polymer and the hydrolyzable groups to the substrate. The organofunctional group of the silane must be reactive or compatible with the polymer, while the silanol group after the hydrolysis will condense on the surface of the substrate.
